AstroPad is a next-generation shock pad engineered for safety, stability, and speed of install. Its rolled design lays flat for fast, efficient installation, while the unique open-cell structure mimics the natural give of soil. It delivers consistent footing and superior impact absorption. Exclusively offered through AstroTurf and backed by a 20-year warranty.
The most commonly used infill in synthetic turf fields has traditionally been crumb rubber (SBR), made by grinding recycled car and truck tires. While it offers shock absorption and elasticity, crumb rubber is composed of a complex mix of materials—some of which include heavy metals and potentially harmful chemicals. When exposed to heat and UV, these substances can leach out and release toxins into the air, raising ongoing concerns about health and environmental safety.
Recognizing these risks, we set out to develop a safer, cleaner alternative. Our team of scientists engineered Guardian Infill—a high-performance material made in the USA using corn and soy oils.
