LOOP is a Virginia Tech 5-STAR–rated soft-shell protective headband designed for flag football and other non-contact and limited-contact sports where athletes want lightweight added head protection without sacrificing comfort, speed, or style.
Developed by Guardian Sports in partnership with Schutt, LOOP was created to help better protect athletes where it matters most — especially around the back of the head. Its updated occipital hinge fit is engineered to sit securely and comfortably while giving athletes the freedom to move, compete, and stay focused on their game.

The LOOP headband is engineered to provide added impact protection in a lightweight, breathable design. Its occipital hinge fit helps improve coverage around one of the head’s most vulnerable areas while maintaining a secure, low-profile feel.
LOOP uses a performance foam co-developed specifically for this headgear. The material is designed to resist moisture and odor, rebound after impact, remain effective across a range of temperatures, and provide protection across a wide range of impacts.

LOOP earned a 5-STAR rating from Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings, the highest available rating in its STAR evaluation system. STAR stands for Summation of Tests for the Analysis of Risk.
In Virginia Tech’s football headgear testing, LOOP received a STAR score of 0.02 out of 1.0, where a lower score indicates better performance. LOOP ranked #4 out of 45 headgear products tested, placing it in the top 9% of tested products.
Virginia Tech’s testing includes 36 impact tests per product, measuring impacts from the front, side, and back at multiple energy levels. The testing evaluates both linear and rotational forces, which are both important in head impact performance.
LOOP was also recognized in Virginia Tech’s Soccer Headgear Ratings as the #1 Headband and #2 Overall Headgear among 34 soccer headgear products tested.
