Montie Quinn Breaks NCAA Record

History was made by Curry College senior running back, Montie Quinn, by the end of a 71-27 win against Nicholos College. With 522 rushing yards, Quinn rushed for 7 TDs and averaged 26.1 yards per carry. His performance shattered the Division III rushing record and set the all-division NCAA single game rushing record, making him the first college player ever to surpass 500 rushing yards in a game.
“What Montie did today was nothing short of amazing. Breaking the NCAA rushing record is a monumental achievement.”
Todd Parsons, Curry Coach
Prior to Quinn’s historic season he suffered a head injury that prompted a conversation between Quinn and his coach to try out a Guardian Cap, a padded helmet cover designed to help reduce and redirect impact forces, for the 2025–2026 season. From the first practice with a Guardian Cap, he noticed the difference.
“I suffered a head injury last year and this upcoming season me and my coach decided to check out Guardian Cap. I tried it out for the first practice and at the end of the day I felt like it had better results, it was way better protection, and I had less contact hitting the ground and hitting head-to-head with players.”

Guardian Caps have a soft padded layer that goes over a football helmet. It features a padded, energy-absorbing material that reduces impact severity by absorbing and redirecting force. Now worn by players at over 500 colleges, they symbolize a major shift in college football, one where players are thinking beyond the next play and to their long-term health. Quinn’s record-setting performance shows that prioritizing player safety doesn’t limit performance; it enables it.
