The Fiesta Bowl marked Franklin’s first time wearing a Guardian Cap this season and the first instance of a Guardian Cap being worn in a College Football Playoff game. The soft, padded layer that fits over a football helmet is used by more than 500 college programs and has appeared in over 20 games this season. Guardian Caps have increasingly become a symbol of progress in player safety, helping athletes stay on the field while continuing to do what they love.
