Local Mom Finds Funding For Caps

Angelena Swords Brocato is a mother of four, including three sons who are either playing or dreaming of playing quarterback. Concerned about the safety of her boys on the field, Angelena set out to get Guardian Caps for them, an innovative padded cover that fits over the hard shell of football helmets to provide extra protection against head impact.
Her sons, aged 13, 11, and 6, play tackle and flag football, making safety a top priority for Angelena. “I figured I couldn’t be the only one who was concerned,” she shared.
Driven to make a difference, Angelena began collecting donations from her community, and the support poured in faster than she expected. Within just two weeks, she had raised nearly $6,000. That was enough to outfit not only her boys but the entire Patterson High football team and the PJHS squad with Guardian Caps, totaling 105 protective caps.
“People in your community want to help sometimes,” Brocato said. “But they don’t know how to turn that into action.”
Angelena’s story shows how a simple idea combined with community support can make a huge impact on youth sports safety. At Guardian Caps, we’re proud to be part of that mission to keep athletes safer, fresher, and playing longer.
