Who is POWLAX?
If you’re an experienced laxer you’ve most likely heard of POWLAX, or even watched some of his YouTube videos. POWLAX (AKA Patrick Chapla) is a master lacrosse coach who specializes in creating video content to benefit lacrosse players.
How it all began:
Lacrosse was not the first sport Patrick played, but it was the sport that he quickly fell in love with. His family was a huge soccer family, and one day his older brother got invited to go to a lacrosse game with a friend. It was never the same after that. Patrick’s family became a lacrosse family.
Growing up, Patrick spent countless hours captivated by all aspects of the game. He was constantly playing catch with his family on the wall in the backyard, learning to string his sticks, or trying new tricks. He found solace in the relationship he built with the ball and his stick.
Patrick went on to play lacrosse in high school then at Goucher College and the University of Colorado in the fall. In the spring of 2008, he began his coaching career with Boulder Valley and Icon Lacrosse. While at CU, he started POWLAX, running private and group training. After college, he loved coaching so much that he became a Coach Counselor and Lacrosse Coach at Ridgeview Youth Service Center, a youth detention center in Watkins, Colorado.
What POWLAX does:
POWLAX believes that the best way to grow the lacrosse game is by empowering lacrosse coaches with the knowledge that will make them successful.
Keeping this vision in mind, Patrick and the POWLAX Team work to create lacrosse coaching videos that all coaches can access for free on YouTube. The POWLAX coaching videos range from tips, techniques, advice, to full scale offensive, defensive, and transition packages. Recently, Patrick has been recording back yard coaching sessions while the fields have been closed due to COVID-19.

How POWLAX and PEARL started working together:
PEARL and POWLAX joined forces at IMLCA in 2019 to set the lacrosse TikTok world on fire. Well not really, but we did collaborate on a few videos that set the stage for our great partnership!
We are looking forward to continuing the partnership and have some exciting things planned for 2021.
