Next week, the NCAA is expected to make an official ruling determining the future of lacrosse: the standard will now be optic yellow balls in every game. In June, the NCAA men's lacrosse rules committees across all three divisions recommended that game balls be fluorescent yellow or green beginning with the 2026-27 season – with the color becoming a full requirement by the 2027-28 season. The final vote, slated to be announced at the end of July, will determine the future of the game for the NCAA, and the NFHS is monitoring closely.
